Chalet Rules

#1. Reservations For Use Of The Chalet - Prior RESERVATIONS for use of the Chalet are required by all users (members and guests)!!!!!

#2. Fee Payments (Members & Guests) - Please send your payment to the Chalet Chairman the day after you return from the Chalet. All fees for use of the Chalet must be paid within 5 days.
Checks are payable to the "San Diego Ski Club Chalet," and mailed to the Chalet Chairman. Also, would you please write on the check the dates you used the Chalet?

If you make a reservation for specific dates and do not use them, please call the Chalet Chairman and let him know, otherwise he will think you still owe him money for those dates. If you make a reservation and do not go and do not cancel with the Chalet Chairman, payment will be due for the length of the reservation. Unused reservations could be used by others.

#3. Guests - All guests must be accompanied by a sponsoring member. Guests may not stay at the Chalet after the departure of the sponsoring member. Guest fees for use of the Chalet are to be included with the sponsors fees.

#4. Sign The Roster Book - The "Roster Book" in the Chalet lounge must be signed by all members and guests upon arrival. (M = Member, G = Guest)

#5. Smoking - There is absolutely no smoking anywhere in the Chalet!!!!

#6. Alcohol - There is no drinking of hard liquor (beer & wine is acceptable) or excessive drinking of alcoholic beverages. We don't need to deal with a drunk. It will just drive good members away.

#7. Food & Cooking - There is NO COOKING of food on the premises except hot water for tea, coffee and hot cereal. If you take food to eat at the chalet, clean it up and dispose of it before you leave. Keep all the food you bring on the shelves in the entrance way.
- No food is allowed in the sleeping area because of the rodent problem (rats and mice).  Hantavirus from mouse droppings leads to sickness and death. - Food in the entrance way and the lounge area must be cleaned up when you are done eating!!!

#8. Trash - Food will not be left in trash baskets to smell bad and attract rodents.
- If the trash baskets fill up during your stay, take the full trash bags to your car to be disposed of
on your next drive out of the parking lot.
- When you clean up the Chalet for departure, empty all trash baskets into a big trash bag  and take the trash bag with you. Leave all trash baskets with new (and empty) paper or plastic bags.

#9. Chalet Cleanup - Clean the chalet before you leave.
- Cleaning equipment and supplies are provided.
- When you are there for a weekend you will cleanup on Sunday morning before going skiing.
- When you are there during the week ,you will cleanup the morning of the day you leave.
- Cleanup must be coordinated between all occupants so that it gets done by the group as a whole. It works best if someone volunteers to be the leader and assigns tasks so that the work is done equally by all present. Cleanup tasks are posted on the wall in the lounge. Cleanup must be done in the mornings while everybody is still there. Cleanup by people promising to return in the afternoon seldom happens because of the random timing of their return. Leaving cleanup for someone else is the wrong attitude. It's your Chalet.

#10. Heater Thermostat - The heater thermostat shall be turned up to 65 or 70 degrees only when people are in the Chalet. After 10 o'clock in the evening, the thermostat should be set at 50 degrees. When the last person leaves the Chalet in the morning or when going home, set the thermostat at 40 degrees. The heater does not have to run all day at a high temperature while nobody is there.

#11. Air Conditioning - During warmer weather, for fresh air, open the windows very carefully - don't break them by pounding on them.

#12 Hot Water Heaters - There are no water heaters to worry about. There is a water heater on the wall of the women's bathroom, which should not be touched. DO NOT TOUCH THE CONTROLS OF THE HEATER. YOU COULD RUIN IT FOR THE CHALET.

#13. Water Valves - DO NOT PLAY WITH ANY OF THE VALVES UNDER THE SINKS IN THE BATHROOMS!!!!! If there is a problem, call the Chalet Chairman on the phone!!!!!!

#14. TV's, Radios, VCR's, DVD's, & Porno Flicks - If you bring up a TV, radio, VCR or DVD, it must be turned off at 10:00PM. You should be aware that most people come to the mountains to get away from noise pollution. It would be nice if you would consider leaving these devices at home.

If you bring up a porno flick, your membership in the San Diego Ski Club is terminated.

#15. Quiet After Hours - Regular curfew in the lounge and dormitories is 10:00PM.

#16. Security - Lock the doors and windows. Don't forget to check the doors in the back.
Instructions for the lock on the front door are included in every UllR News.

#17. Exiting - If you are the last one out of the Chalet, LOCK THE DOOR!!!!!

#18. Sleeping Areas - There will be no sleeping in the lounge.
- Men shall not sleep on the women's side just because no one is there. You don't know who is coming or what time they will arrive.
- This is a segregated dormitory - women on one side and men on the other. If you must share a bed with a companion, please go and rent a motel room.

#19. Empty Bunks - Spreading your gear over several bunks, besides the bunk you are using, is discouraged. You only paid for one bunk. Extra gear should be stowed under the bunk or on the hangers above. It is very disconcerting for a person coming in late at night to find gear spread out over 2 or 3 bunks. If you are occupying several bunks, latecomers have permission to place your gear on the floor and use the bunk.

#20. Zipper & Velcro Noise - Remember, after 10:00Pm is quiet hours - don't make any noise!!! Zippers and velcro fasteners should be opened in the lounge area. Velcro opening will wake up most sleepers.

#21. Parking - Parking is tight, so stay close to the sides and leave a path for people to get out. Do not park in front of the steps. If you block another car in the parking lot, be prepared to be awakened in the morning to move your car. The early risers should not be subjected to your verbal abuse if you blocked them in.

#22. Snow Plow - During the winter, the snow plow clears a roadway through the parking lot, quite often early in the morning before people get up. Please do not block the access road.

#23. Out of Control Children - We welcome kids, but they have to behave and obey their parents. Children running, shouting, playing, being obnoxious and not obeying their parents or other Chalet users is not acceptable. If you bring your children to the Chalet, keep a tight reign on them. Failure will result in denial of future reservations. Children will never be left alone in the Chalet. You could be reported to Child Protective Services for doing so.

#24. Exit Lights - Exit lights must be left ON while the Chalet is occupied.
